Among the political and economic projects of the countries of
this continent there was always an ideal of <b>inter-American union</b>. The
pioner organization was <b>OAS (Organization of American States)</b>, established
in 1948.<br>
The Second stage of unification was characterized by the constitution of "<b>subregional
common markets</b>".<br>
Finally, in 1990, a new organization was created, covering the southern area
